What a disappointment. We live in America and speak English. From the Amazon ad it looked like the Barbie did too. She was so excited when she opened it. Then when we put the batteries in to find out that the Barbie spoke Spanish, a language she doesn’t understand, she put it down and went on to check out her cousins toys. We also have never been able to make the ipod work with it. Nothing like a sad little girl at Christmas. This was her present from her Grandmother that I sent the link to order from. I guess it is either Amazon’s fault or the distribution house.

First – there’s a ‘demo’ button you have to turn off to get her to play the song clips and sounds. Perhaps the previous reviewers whose dolls only said two things didn’t switch the button.
This was for my 6 year old. I think it might be better for a child older though. The Barbie does indeed sing along to IPODS or other MP3 players. But really, she’s just moving her mouth up and down and not really synching with the songs. We put on some Slayer and it was pretty comical to watch.
I think the real problems are that:
a) you really need to have her attached to the stand to do anything interesting. Take her off the stand and she’s a vanilla barbie doll with a hole in her back where she plugs into the stand.
b) she only sings clips – and those get old fast. They should have given her full songs to sing. My daughter loves to sing with the Barbie dolls and it was really disappointing at how short the song clips are. And really, only one clip feels like a real song.
c) It is nearly impossible for a 6 year old to clip barbie into her stand. It’s even difficult for me to clip her back into the slot. As such, she just stands there on the platform and doesn’t get played with off of it.
d) The gimmick of the doll is that she sings along to any song. But seriously, how much interest can you get watching a doll’s rubber face moving up and down to songs. I think it’s something you watch for a few seconds and then get bored and do something else.
e) The styling of the doll – clothes and such – is rather bland and poor. I guess they wanted to make her more down to Earth by giving her dull blue jeans and a bland white sparkly shirt. Even her hair is just loose and not styled. As such, it’s definitely not the most attractive of the Barbies out there.
It’s a hard doll to love – really, it’s very vanilla and boring and the gimmicks are not very interesting. I can’t imagine an 8 year old would be all that interesting watching Barbie’s rubbery mouth moving to an IPOD tune any more than my 6 year old.
I think there may be a good concept here – but for the price of the doll, there really needed to be more value than a blandly styled barbie doll with rubber mouth.

This doll was very hard to find before Christmas this year. I was glad to have found it and my daughter loves it. Her mouth actually moves to her own music and “chats” when you put the phone next to her ear.

I bought this doll for my Grandchild’s 6th birthday. I made arrangements to make sure she had her Ipod with her when she opened her gift. The doll said only 2 phrases, over and over again. When we hooked it up to the Ipod it would start to play a song and then quit. I changed the batteries, but it didn’t make a difference. IT JUST DOESN’T WORK. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY! A VERY DISAPPOINTED BIRTHDAY GIRL.

My daughter wanted a talking Barbie and this was the only thing I could find. She only says two phrases, or rather says one phrase (“Love it!”) and sings/raps the other. You can plug in your iPod, but she doesn’t sing along. She only repeats her two phrases. That being said, my daughter does play with her, in the same way she plays with any Barbie. Could have saved myself some money and bought a regular Barbie.
